Now I don’t know why any of you would want to hide anything on your phone but I can take a few guesses, let me know when i reach yours:

  1. You don’t want your Wifey, Husband, Girlfriend or Boyfriend to see the raunchy photos of your sidepiece.
  2. You have a couple of raunchy (and i mean really raunchy) videos on your phone tat you need to hide so the wrong person (your Mom for instance) doesn’t catch you.
  3. You’re a Yahoo boy and so you don’t want the authorities rummaging through your phone and finding you culpable.
  4. All of the above.

Personally, I typically fall into category 4 (Shhhuuu, don’t tell my Girlfriend). But that aside, I understand your struggle brother.

While some other phone brands like Infinix come preinstalled with a dedicated file hiding app like XHide and Xiaomi’s Second Space feature, not all Android phones are this lucky.

But there’s yet hope for the hopeless. The easiest way to circumvent this is one of three solutions below:

  1. By using a Vault app
  2. By using the technical method
  3. (Keep reading to find out)

Option 1: How to hide pictures & videos on Huawei P20 pro using a Vault app

A Vault is a storage facility that is designed to keep all unauthorized personnel out. So therefore the most straight forward way to hide your pictures and videos away from prying eyes is to lock it up in a Vault app and throw away the key (don’t do that).

The best Vault app I will suggest to you is Gallery Vault. Personally, I’ve been using it on every Android phone I’ve had since 2014 and I’ve never had a complaint.

Now here lies the (possible) dilemma for those of you who own Huawei P20 Pro smartphones.

So if your P20 Pro happens to fall into that unfortunate quagmire, I guess your next best option is to simply search for “Gallery Vault” on Google search and see if you can download it from a third-party website.

Once you have Gallery Vault setup, to hide pictures or photos and videos on your Huawei P20 Pro, simply navigate to the location of the picture in your gallery and click the share icon. Choose Gallery Vault among the options and you’re done.

Option 2: How to hide pictures & videos on Huawei P20 pro using the technical method

Someone probably saw “technical method” and cringed. I don’t like technical stuff too so I’m going to make this as straight forward and easy as possible.

As much as this is easier than it looks, I can tell you for a fact that its far more stressful than just going with option 1, trust me. But if you want to try it, read on.

Here’s a little trick you should try in your File Manager app on your P20 Pro: Move all the files (photos and videos as they may be) you want to hide to a new folder in your File Manager and name it whatever you want that doesn’t sound suspicious.

Next rename each file you just moved by just deleting the “jpg” or “jpeg” or whatever file extension they have. Now in it’s place, type in any character. Doesn’t matter what it is. Next thing you’ll see is a pop up warning that says something like: “You’re changing the file extension which may cause the file not to be recognized. Are you sure you want to do this?”

You want to press “OK”.

What you’ll see next is an unknown file format that if you click on, won’t open. Congrats, your file has been hidden! Anyone who happens upon this will leave this folder alone in a heart beat. To revert the file back to its original state, just rename the file extension back to “jpg” or “jpeg” or whatever file extension it was before and your file will be unhidden.

Option 3: Don’t bother hiding anything

I know most of you don’t want to hear this but it’s actually the easiest of the three. Just don’t hide anything and you’d have no problem at all, straight like an arrow. Easier said than done, right?

Now over to you
